Infrared photography is a favorite genre for me, and since lately I am shooting video, I thought I give it a try with IR video.
The only camera I have which is capable of IR video is the Sony CX730E. By turning on the nighshot mode, you enter the world of infrared light. Now, during daylight, you can’t see anything, so I used a Hoya R72 infrared filter and two Hoya ND8 filters (6 stops total) to control exposure. I also had to set the AE Shift on the camera to -1 to further darken the picture. With this setup I was able to get a proper exposure.
The look is quite dramatic, and although its use is rather limited, it is good to have it as an option for specific footage.
Here is the video.
